Calmer Yesterday

Things were calmer at home yesterday, mercifully no cat fights and relatively "quiet" next door. Only one ENORMOUS bang when someone (mother?) came home (or perhaps left). I wondered, at the time, how many calories that would expend, because to slam a door that hard would take significant effort. Maybe I should search on myfitnesspal.com to find out.  :-p

I do have plans for home renos that should help significantly with the noise from the adjoining unit, but as everything still is up in the air re: timing, I won't go into any details. I hope for next month, but it might end up being later. I'm not sure I'll be able to hold it together, though, if it's delayed past November.

I can't--can't--have both crappy work and home environments.

We have no date yet re: our work move, btw. I took some time this morning to purge my own paper files, clearing out everything prior to 2007. It really is ridiculous, the amount of paper we can accumulate in our supposed paperless society.

That's it for me. I'm meeting up with an old acquaintance for coffee tomorrow, have to run errands, etc. The usual. I won't hold my breath for a quiet weekend, but I will cross my fingers I can endure it. I can understand perfectly how people can snap and commit terrible acts of violence in fits of rage. I can't understand premeditated actions, but being pushed past one's limit and going over the edge? Yes, I understand how that can happen only too well.

The boys are unimpressed with and uncaring of my emotional state! (Pics snapped through the window.)
Purrs from the boys and peace from me. (Please, let there be peace--in me and around me!)

Once a limit is reached you can easily understand why people snap under duress. It matters little (except to the person who is enduring it) what causes that final break. So yes, I too understand the breaking mechanism and why there is allowances for actions taken in emotional (altered) states. I am hoping for a peace filled weekend for you. But, I still think a good pair of noise reducing ear plugs would work wonders -- have you tried that?

The boys look, uh, ready for the cold weather. ;) But in all seriousness, it's probably just the angle.
I can totally understand how people can snap in fits of rage. I do hope the home reno WILL happen quickly and will bring down the noise from the horrors.
Have a lovely weekend!

Lovely Kim!!! What's going on? Your moving again at your work place? But you've just moved haven't you with a nicer office and more private desk space for you? Oh dear! I am totally out of sync with blogland happenings!

I'm taking you're planning to soundproof your home? Fingers crossed! You really need to own your space again.

Awwww but your boys are looking lovely!! Take care

Hopefully it works out that the soundproofing can get done sooner rather than later. It is money well spent.

I know what it's like to have a crappy work-place. No one is happy at mine. Having horrible neighbours is quite different, though, because it affects what should be your refuge at home. I hope things improve with the soundproofing.

I know you have been dealing with the horrible neighbors for a long time now, so I can't remember what you have and have not tried, but have you tried calling the police and telling them you suspect a child is being physically abused next door? If you are hearing screaming and pounding, then you have legitimate ground for being concerned about the safety and wellbeing of the children. This will obviously annoy the neighbors, but if you do this enough, maybe the police will remove the children from the home for their protection. Where I am we have Child Protective Services, and they might send people to the place to investigate. The more complaints or tips they get the more they will take it seriously. Just a thought.
