Wordless Wednesday: All Critters, All The Time

Some of the non-humans from last week's visit with Robin and Chuck.  :-)

Another swan, elsewhere (not at the pond). This one didn't seem to have a mate. He certainly preened for us, though.
I can't remember the type of butterfly; snapped at Presqu'ile Park.
 Curious doe, also at Presqu'ile.
 Mourning doves on Robin's deck.
They'd already had breakfast at one of her many feeders.
Miss Kitty, the stray Robin cares for.
A cutie named Fudge, outside one of the thrift stores in Cobourg. I'm pretty sure I have a pic of him from last fall too.
Louie, the store cat at the Northumberland & District Humane Society Thrift Store, also in Cobourg.
Penny, the resident cat at an antique store near Colborne. She came running up to us from way in the back, the first time we'd ever seen her move! (Maybe she had just done her business and was full of energy. Ha.) Anyway, that appeared to have been her energy spurt for the day, because she quickly settled onto her blanket to preside over the comings and goings at her store.
This cute chipmunk was also snapped at Robin's, through her window. He's a bit blurry, I know, but it's so hard to get a good shot of chipmunks, they move so quickly. I guess when you're that small you have to be constantly on guard, forever running at the slightest (real or imagined) sound.
Snowball, an "owned" cat Robin feeds too. His human is negligent, and he's all skin and bone (again), having lost the weight he'd gained last year from Robin's feeding. She said she'd have to start all over with him. So sad, because he's such a love, and so desperate for attention and affection. Miss Kitty hates him, though, so the two can't be in proximity, which makes things a bit too interesting from time to time!
One of the two sheep at an orchard/farm stand.
Sophie, the resident dog at the orchard. She was not herself at all, atypically didn't get up, seemed quite depressed. At first we thought she might be ill, but when we saw no sign of her close friend, the resident cat, we thought perhaps that the cat had passed away, leaving her bereft.
And finally my two, enjoying some rare sunshine over the weekend.

Nicki went to the vet this past Monday for his regular stuff (anal glands, claws, Advantage, blood work). The blood work was fine, all within normal range. He'd had a urinalysis done in January at his last visit, as well as blood taken, but the sample was damaged and the lab was unable to process it. My vet clinic still charged me this time, though. (They'd have redone it in January at no charge, if I had chosen to bring Nicki back, but I declined, as it's stressful all round.) Interestingly, Nicki's anal glands usually fill up pretty quickly, but the vet said that there wasn't much in them this time, even after 4 months. I might wait 4.5 or even 5 months for the next visit, unless something untoward happens. Really, the less I have to take him (them both) to the dreaded vet, the better.

So that's my critter offering for this "wordless" Wednesday. Comments are off for you!

Peace.
