Happy November 1st!
I'm not sure if I should write "happy" as it pertains to November 1st, as it's typically a dark and dreary month here. But whether the beginning of this month is a happy occasion for you or not, I hope we'll all embrace it, or at least endure it. It certainly looks like November here; it's a wild, blustery, rainy day, and a lot of the trees are bare now, or almost bare.
The pics below were snapped yesterday morning, as I was walking through the swamp. It had been minus 7 overnight, so even at 9 - 10 AM there still was frost in shady spots.
Halloween seemed quiet; I neither like it nor celebrate it and didn't notice many kids out and about. Some of the residents in this complex did have their units decorated and were doling out candy, presumably in a socially distanced manner. I'm just glad it's over for another year.
Now my mind has turned toward the winter holiday season, with its decorations and lights. I put up two of my warm white light strings today: one in the kitchen running under the upper cabinets and another string above the living room window and patio door. When I decorate for the holidays in another week or two I'll add some lights to the hallway, and I'm going to put another warm white string around the "office" window frame, to add a bit of warmth and cheer to my work days.
Derry also brings warmth and cheer to my days.
Now my real reason for posting today is to ask about embedded versus pop-up comments. Years ago I had my blog commenting set to pop-up, but then changed to embedded for some reason I no longer can recall. However, the latest update to Firefox (my preferred browser) has left me unable to leave a comment on blogs with embedded comments. (I switched to Chrome and was able to comment without problem). So my hope is that someone who uses Firefox will leave a comment here (now set to pop-up) and that if you have a problem, you'll email to let me know. Thanks so much!

Comments, no matter how, are no longer possible on my MAC when I use Safari, so I had to start using Google Chrome. One of the many things that Big Tech is doing to us. They manipulate and control us all in too many ways... And WHY keep changing? The thumbnails of blogposts no longer show up. Being a very visual person I know that an image draws people to read further... Without any image, that is lost!
We all owe it to the New Blogger and WHY?!

In the meantime, the weather here is more like early autumn, with temperatures at about 18 degrees for today. We had quite a bit of snow a week ago, but that is all gone. The signs of frost on the plant in one picture you posted looked indeed like a November morning.
I chuckled over your introduction of Derry. "Warmth and cheer" don't come to mind with that picture. But it's all in the timing, eh?

But it is a puzzle to me WHY I can't comment on any blog when in Safari?!

I'm not sure about the commenting thing. I use Firefox on a Mac, and I haven't had any issues.
Derry looks a little grumpy, but even a grumpy cat is a comfort in my mind. He's such a handsome boy!
Love the nature shots. We're have a few really nice days here so was out for a walk yesterday. It won't last though, as the temperatures are forecast to drop below normal by the weekend. The winter of our discontent I fear!
Send some 18C weather to us; my gosh, it was cold today (blowing a gale out of the north) when I was out earlier for an appointment. Brrr!

Yes, you might be right about the winter of our discontent. I don't do well in the winters anyway, but we all just have to remember to take it one day at a time. That's manageable!
