Messages from the Universe
First, Derry is doing fine at the moment, still on the meds. We'll see what happens after he's done those in another couple of days; it might not have been long enough. He's not impressed at my syringing in the bitter stuff, and lets me know his feelings (if looks could kill!), but we have only four more doses to go.
Second, the vet seems to concur that it's a food issue, so I'm going to try the prescription gastrointestinal biome kibble that he recommended. If Derry were four, instead of fourteen, I probably would investigate other food options, since I'm not a fan of high grain/high carb food for obligate carnivores. However, at this stage of his life I'd be happy to find something that he liked and that worked well for him. I'll continue to give him his usual canned, though, because I would be very surprised if that was the issue, and he does need the added moisture in his diet.
Tummy scritches late yesterday afternoon.
Anyway, onto messages from the Universe. :-)
I was curled up on the couch yesterday evening, mindlessly vegging in front of the TV (okay, it was a documentary on Ontario's public television station), and playing an offline, free version of "Scrabble" on my tablet. I had just started the game against the 'bot and my very first letters spelled "RELAX."
I've never had those letters come up before, and it made me laugh; message received loud and clear! The second word I was able to make was "MAGIC." The game continued after that without any further "messages." LOL.
I know this would be random to many people, but I don't believe it was. Usually in times of stress and worry I will get a message from the Universe and it lets me know that even though my mind is skeptical, there really is more to life that what's seen.
I remembered that last July (2020) we (both Derry and I) had an enormously stressful time, after Derry's dental and lump removal (he had issues with the cone they gave him, before the soft one I ordered from Amazon arrived). I knew I had received a message during that time too, and I finally remembered that I had been lying in bed at nighttime, playing Solitaire on the tablet, and in between games an ad for another word game came up twice in a row, with the phrase "This too shall pass." (Something my mom always said to me growing up.) I had never had that ad pop up before, let alone twice in succession, and I've never had it pop up since.
It's crazy, isn't it?
I always used to tell the Universe that I don't get subtlety, you have to (figuratively) hit me over the head.
So it does, in amazing and wondrous ways! This fills me up with laughter and Joy, that Life is so incredible.
One of my long time favourite quotes is the perfect way to end this post: "The beating heart of the universe is holy Joy." - Martin Buber
Peace.

our pets in trouble.
My own stomach issues a few years ago came from raw pineapple. At my age, I'd never
eaten raw before. Basically in 6 months, I lost weight until I was only 94 pounds and the
doctors wanted more tests and more prescription meds. I had no idea what was wrong,
but I simply stopped the doctor visits, stopped eating any sweet fruits, (I'm sugar free for
the past 10 years anyway). In 2 days life got better and I no longer had dirrhea. Imagine
after 6 months of being stuck at home with the bathroom at hand or living on Imodium.
After 2 months I started adding one of my regular fruits back in the meals until all were
proven safe. However I never ever have eaten raw pineapple again.
Hope Derry can find an acceptable flavor food that agrees with him.
Nice that after all this commotion, you got a message to relax, lol. Try to not forget
the warning. Lynn and Precious
But 10 years of being sugar-free is amazing! The longest I managed was 3 years and that was quite a long time ago, about 20 years ago. I'm off all sugars now anyway, have been since April, because of the naturopathic treatments. (This includes raw honey and any sweetener but Stevia, but it would be nice to be able to add good quality honey back in eventually, if possible.) I do have a sugar addiction, that's the nature of the beast, and I suspect that when the ND gives me permission to have an occasional treat that I will have to pass. I well know what happens when I fall off the wagon! It's like telling an alcoholic that it's okay to have a drink now and then, just not every day.
I love all manner of fruit, including fresh pineapple, but am very limited in what and how much I can eat right now. I do eat grapes regularly, and an occasional apple or some blueberries, but not much. Most, if not all fruits are off the list of SIBO-friendly foods. I'm moving into the gut-healing stage now, though, so we'll see what happens!
I'm not very good at relaxing and letting the Universe unfold as it should; no doubt why I got the message last night. LOL.
Take care, keep well!

Thank you for the blessings for him, it's much appreciated!
Well, our kitties certainly know when things are bitter tasting and they manage to give us the 'stink' eye for that! Indeed there really is more to life than what's seen and I always say that many things happen for a reason! We, tiny earthlings don't yet comprehend the broad scope of it all but with Faith, we also know that loved ones that are no longer with us, are beside us very often in times of need.
Wishing Derry a speedy recovery and indeed time to RELAX.
Hugs,
Mariette
That's interesting how you received the messages you needed at the right time. I may be getting messages too but am too thick headed to pay attention. Though when I was working, I did find I'd wake in the night with an answer to a problem I was trying to solve at work. I learned to keep a note pad by the bed, though sometimes couldn't read what I wrote in the dark.
We hope that you can find something for Derry that works.

Hugs to you, and scritches to Derry!
