Monday Mancat Memories
Snapshots from September 2008. I know I'm always posting the same pics, just from different months and years, but of course this was their lives.
Below: Another day in the garden, another insect to snack on. Derry was very good at insect-catching. Nicki didn't have the patience, so the occasional time that he did catch his own, I think it must have been from sheer luck.
As for other memories: Among the few childhood items that Mom had left for me were 55 slides, dating back from my birth in 1964. I took them to our downtown camera store and had them scanned and transferred onto a memory stick. I picked them up Saturday afternoon and then spent a bit of time editing as necessary, for size and colour. I'll refrain from posting any blurry pics of me as a baby, bare backside, lying on a couch. LOL. (There were two of those!)
These three below were taken when I was about five-ish, at Haldimand Beach in Gaspé, so probably 1969, give or take a year. Mom would have been in her late 20s. Of all the slides she had (Dad has hundreds, if not thousands, as he was the photographer), these are my favourite. As always, Mom had a cigarette in her hand!
The pic below was taken when I was three, so in 1967, also at Haldimand Beach. It was our first summer in Gaspé, as we moved there from Montreal that spring. It was Mom's favourite of the early pics, or so she used to say.
Note my little red oxfords! It was always red oxfords one year, navy blue the next. It's a good thing children's footwear has come a long way since then. :-)
Thanks for stopping by, have a lovely day.

I never gave it consideration before, but I guess you are bi-lingual with English and French? Sometimes I think I should have really really learned another language. Spanish as it is now our 2nd language.
Good photos of you and your mother. I have none left from the few
my grandmother would have take of me with my mother. Dad did not use the Kodak Brownie unfortunately. Lynn and Precious XX
I'm sorry you don't have any childhood pics with your mom. I treasure these, am glad Mom had kept them. Dad probably is sitting on a treasure trove of family pics, even though we were not a happy family. I was oblivious to all of that, though. Our families are just our norm, whatever the experience is.
Love the insect catching photos. Eric loved to catch grasshoppers.
What a wonderful thing technology can now make them forever yours.
Hugs Cecilia
Those are indeed treasures to have!
The 2008 Nicki and Derry the insect hunter but even more so the Gaspé images.
Cute little Kim with her Mom.
It seems that you are the only child...
Hugs,
Mariette
You are very fortunate to have the photos of you and your mom. I can't think of a photo with mine when I was young. I think my mom was the photographer so there are photos of my siblings and I.
The last photo of the kiss you shared is so sweet. What wonderful memories to look back on.
