A walk on the "wild" side

I went for an hour an half walk yesterday morning along the waterfront "trail" and to downtown. Now I know where all the ducks and geese are hanging out right now!

 

I have no idea what kind of water bird this is.

I was surprised to see this merganser, I thought they were here more in spring/fall migrations.

 It was a "mild" morning, but I didn't take into account how raw it would be right on the Lake. Brrrr. I didn't linger anywhere!

 

There were joggers (mostly students, as I was near campus) and a few dog walkers, but not as many people as I had expected.

The greylag goose (centre right) is called "Hank" on our city's sub-reddit.
I've taken pics of him before, he hangs around with this flock of geese.
He's a long way from his natural home. (Unless he's a domestic escapee.)

It was a lovely walk, but it was even better when I went for a London fog (tea latté) afterward! If it's chilly where you are, stay cosy! If it's warm where you are, well, then, please send us a bit of warmth!
