Getting the hang of this (maybe) and yes and yes

First, to answer The Furries: Yes, we can be called repeatedly for jury selection, which might or might not lead to actual jury duty. I appreciate your perspective...but I still don't want to serve.   And to Bellen: Yes, I was called for selection last September, but Dad was arriving that week from Vancouver and so they deferred it to the spring. Well, it's spring, at least by the calendar! I have a feeling this will be for the "big and very long" trial from the fall, which they probably held over for some reason. I do remember your suggestion, as well as others made, and might have to put one or more of them to good use.  :-P *** As for getting the hang of this, I mean the Picture Window template.  I've been trying to resize free desktop wallpaper images to fit, but it's hard because monitors can vary so widely in size. Blogger's suggestion is to use an image that's 1800x1600 or larger, but I'm trying 1800 pixels wide with a smaller h...

Blogger Template Designer Question

Image
I'm using an old modified stretch minima template for both my blogs, have looked at "upgrading" to the new designs. But. When I do this, I notice that Blogger switches all my gadgets from one column to the other. So all my left column gadgets end up on the right side, and vice versa. I've not been saving the "upgrade" because this pisses me off and I'd like to just do a seamless transition. I have a lot of gadgets, don't want to manually move them back to the correct columns. Anyone know a way around this? If so, please do leave a comment. I'm going to hunt around Blogger's "help" forum, but I don't expect much "help" at all from it. Only three days left...Take a deep breath, everyone! I'm seriously considering using up my last vacation day tomorrow, not sure I can stand to be in the office for one. more. day. I'll see. Right now I'm so not in work mode, and there's nothing that has to be don...

How to Get a 3-Column Template with Minima

I stumbled across these easy instructions for a 3-column blogger template, using the Minima style as your base: http://www.thecutestblogontheblock.com/blog-secrets/145-how-to-get-a-3-column-template.html It means you need to adjust your header image as well, if you have one, to make things look okay. I've looked at 3-column templates, where you just upload or replace the existing html with the xml template, copied from the source of your choosing, but you lose most of your widgets by doing that. There are supposedly simple ways around that, but so far, even after going through a couple of tutorials, I've been unable to get it right. So these instructions were a real find for me! Plus, there are sources for 3-column backgrounds, where you just copy their code and paste into an HTML gadget that you add via the layout view. Two super sources for blogger backgrounds: The Cutest Blog on the Block (where I found the easiest 3-column instructions, above), and Hot Bliggity Blog Have f...
