"...on this harvest moon"

Image
You know I'm singing along to Neil Young's song, " Harvest Moon " as I type this. Snapped with my Fuji HS10 early Friday morning: Lovely, clear skies, and that Fuji point and shoot does a great job with hand-held night snapshots. I snapped another pic this morning, but there was some cloud cover, so it's fuzzier. I also didn't crop this one, as I did the first. Enjoy the song, and the weekend. I think I'll hit "replay" on YouTube.  :-) Peace . Comments are off.

And *I* was worried about the full moon?

I won't go into all the details, but yesterday morning our unit was called into a meeting with one of the other units that form our larger umbrella group. We were asked, by the second-in-command of the entire organization, to wait in the room until my boss's boss had left the building. (In other words, was escorted out.) I have no further information at all. But all of us, including my boss, had our jaws hanging open to the floor. Only one person from our larger group knew beforehand (this person's second-in-command). It can only fall into one of three categories: unethical/criminal, personal or political. My boss now knows but can't disclose the information, other higher-ups know but can't disclose what happened. I can't imagine this person being unethical in any way, shape or form after 20+ years here, but stranger things have happened. And I can't imagine it would merely be a matter of not liking the work being done or how it was being done, or eve...

It's a full moon tomorrow night. I swear on all that's holy that it makes me crazier than I already am. I got in to work this morning to a voice mail message from our business officer, questioning whether my boss's breakfast receipts at a receipt conference were valid, because if the conference provided breakfast, he couldn't expense it.  I immediately replied via voice mail, in a very snitty, uppity tone of voice that my boss has never submitted receipts that weren't valid, that breakfast wasn't included and that he doesn't commit fraud. Then I thought, oops, I'd better double check with him, because maybe the breakfast was provided and he chose not to eat it (the food being crappy, perhaps). So I emailed him and told him not to make me eat crow, please. And he replied that the conference "breakfast" was a sticky bun at 8:30AM and that he had real food in the hotel at 6:30AM each day, along with many other attendees who...

Well, *that* explains it!

Last night was a full moon. I realized it when I was taking out the garbage around 4:30AM today and looking up at a full, gorgeous moon in a clear, dark sky. That explains my verbal diarrhea yesterday during the workshop, as well as the nuttiness of the week in general. I really need to start noting the dates of the full moon, so I can mentally brace myself. Seriously. The week is ending on a sad note for my co-worker: Her second (and only other) elderly cat had to be helped to the Bridge late this afternoon. Ozzie, brother to Rocky, who had passed in February. My co-worker had taken a half-day vacation, felt a deep need to leave work and be at home. She thought it was just work-related stress, but when she got home, she found that her 18-year old Ozzie had been peeing blood, and quite a lot. Ozzie was the one with IBD and a recently discovered abdominal lump, and she always expected he would pass first, so it was a surprise to her when Rocky went to the Bridge in February...

It's Definitely a Full Moon

You'd think 25 minutes in the grocery store, in-between buses, would be enough to pick up a handful of items. But noooooo....I get in the line up where the poor clerk has to call for two overrides on the cash register, because of some customer-caused problem. Honestly, if she had had to call for a third, I think I might have screamed.  I was lucky to just make my bus, and only because I ran and because the driver was kind enough to pull up, as he'd already pulled away from the curb. Yeah, it's a full moon tonight. Snapped last night, almost full. I want to say how much I appreciate the comments, both public and private, on yesterday's post. Really great, thought-provoking stuff, and definitely terrific suggestions/advice. At least we're all in the same boat--all of humanity, I mean. Non-humans are blessed to live without the anticipation of suffering and grief. There certainly was a lot to reflect on. I think it comes down to less thought and more action.  :-) ...

Full Moon Crazy

Image
Okay, the full moon is tomorrow night but it looks full now. This pic was snapped off my back step a bit earlier, no tripod, and not bad for a (high end) point-and-shoot camera! The camera (have I said thank you to my dad recently?) has a "nighttime with no tripod" setting that seems to work quite well, at least in this instance. Enlarge--I almost wrote "biggify"--for full effect. It seems like it was a crazy week. Busy, and lots of heart-breaking news this week on the Cat Blogosphere, and in the lives of some of those around me. My mom, by the way, wanted me to let you all know how appreciative she was for the good thoughts/prayers/Light for Harry this past summer and earlier this fall, and for her friend Sheilah as well (who is terminally ill with pancreatic cancer). Mom truly was surprised that strangers, especially via cyber-space, would even spare a thought. It's not so surprising, though, when you hang around the CB for a while.  :-) I picked up Annie...
