Just in time for Easter

Image
I spied these daffodils downtown this morning, just in time for Easter. Below, the middle set of doors to St Mary's Cathedral, downtown. On either side were the leftover dead greenery displays (in tall planters) from Christmas. Completely brown. I didn't want to include those. Lol. Maybe they wanted the juxtaposition of the end and the beginning...or maybe it's an ongoing internal political feud. Either is possible! Happy Easter to all, or happy Chocolate Bunny Day if you prefer! 🐰🐣

The potential to be interesting

Image
A couple of weeks ago the university posted info on voluntary early retirement for eligible faculty and librarians.   On Tuesday they posted an exit incentive for (only) Faculty of Arts and Science staff. (Four weeks pay for every year of service, up to a maximum of 52 weeks pay. Those who are eligible for retirement would be able to take it.) A&S has the biggest deficit, so that's why this is limited to their staff right now. The article stated that if successful, and needed, the admin would consider rolling it out more broadly. I'm not sure they would roll it out to us as well, even if they did extend it to other faculties (we're not an academic department), but let's just say that things are becoming a bit more interesting now! Sunrise on Tuesday     As for other things, I'm getting ready to head west to visit Dad; the trip is coming up very quickly! My travel anxiety is ratcheting up, but on the flip side, I'm so over-tired that perhaps by the time I go,...

Happy Easter Weekend!

Image
Happy Easter and happy spring...though I wish the weather were warm and spring-like! I scanned that cute image in from an Easter card a friend sent.  :-) I've been enjoying the day off, and have taken Monday as a vacation day (it's not a holiday for us, we get only Good Friday).  I was exceptionally productive today (no bus service, nothing open, no excuse--lol). My garage was filled with boxes from purchases I've made over the last 5 - 6 months, and though it took an hour and forty minutes, I got them all cut down to fit in my recycle bins. It'll take a while to get rid of it all, but the hard part is done. I also rounded up the bags of clothing and household stuff for donation and got them down into the tidied garage. I have other items ready for donation as well, though I'll keep them in a spare room until I arrange pick up, as I don't want them to get dirty (small pieces of furniture, small appliances, stuff like that).  I even rounded u...

Happy Easter!

Nicki, Derry, Dad and I are wishing you all a very happy Easter, happy Passover, and happy Spring! Dad is here till Wednesday AM, so today we'll be heading off to a downtown hotel restaurant for brunch.  Same hotel we had lunch at on Monday the 10th. Whatever you do, however and whatever you celebrate, may your day be joy-full. Peace . Comments are off.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to all from the boys!  Another, with angels Chumley and Annie too.  And a cutesy Easter greeting snipped from 123greetings.com from me.  :-) I want my basket to be full of the dark chocolate kind of blessings today!  Happy day, everyone. Comments are off for a change.  :-)

Happy Easter, Everyone!

Happy whatever-you-celebrate! Personally, I celebrate the arrival of chocolate. And Spring, of course. I even managed to save a chocolate caramel egg for today. (I can hear Old Kitty "eeewwwing" at the chocolate and caramel combo. LOL.) Glorious moon, snapped this AM from my bedroom window. Easter card from Mom After all my energetic cleaning and purging on Friday, and some errands yesterday, I've been lazing about today, reading and eating. Let's not forget about all the eating.  :-) Happy day, everyone. If you're lucky enough to have Monday off, enjoy. It's back to the cube farm for me! Universal Blessings, Light and Mercy to All Beings.

Happy Dance for Long Weekends!

Image
Image courtesy of Microsoft's Image Gallery I'm doing a little happy dance today, for our long weekend. Unlike government offices, though, we are open on Easter Monday. Still, three days off is great. And with no bus service (and nothing open) tomorrow, I haven't any excuses for not doing work in the house. (I'm sure I'll manage to think of something.) Mr. Handyman hasn't been back, though I do have a long "honey do" list, and I'll be at Rona again on Saturday. That "to do" list keeps getting longer and longer! I was thinking last weekend that it would have been so nice to have had someone handy in my life, someone who could do all this work for free (partner/friend/relative). But then I thought that there's always a price to pay. It might not be money, but it could be sex or cooking and cleaning or generally putting up with a putz. Something . Frankly, I'd rather pay a handyman in dollars, thanks very much--that's the ...
