Monday Mancat Memories

Image
A few indoor snapshots from September 2008. The boys didn't spend ALL their time outside! (Maybe it was raining that day. Ha.) As for more recent mancats, this very friendly, very chatty neutered fellow has been showing up for breakfast for the past several days. I keep cans of Fancy Feast on hand, in case a stray shows up, and while I suspect he does have a home, I'm happy to give him some wet food too. He will pass up the treats I have in favour of the canned, so perhaps he gets only dry food at home. I certainly hope it's as simple as this. Thanks for stopping by; have a terrific day!

With apologies if I have posted any of these before! Have a terrific day and weekend!

Thankful Thursday: Before and After

Image
After five years of trying, without success, to get my almost 40-year old, damaged eavestroughs repaired via the property management company, I took it upon myself to do it out of pocket. Before: Note the lack of eavestroughs along the top roof line. None of the units have them, only eavestroughs along the garage roof. The rotting trim around the old garage door (which also needs to be replaced). The damaged, tri-colour downspout (for some reason all the eavestrough and downspouts had been painted at some point long ago, before I even bought my unit 23+ years ago). The dented back downspout. The roof and eavestrough above the garage. I had the soffits and eavestroughs replaced last week (delayed from the end of June/early July), and had him install an eavestrough along the top line of the roof, as should have been done when these units were built.  Below, the makeshift metal trim around the garage door. It's fine for now, but he was heavy-handed and sloppy with the caulking, the on...

Snapshots from September 2008. I know I'm always posting the same pics, just from different months and years, but of course this was their lives.  Below: Another day in the garden, another insect to snack on. Derry was very good at insect-catching. Nicki didn't have the patience, so the occasional time that he did catch his own, I think it must have been from sheer luck.  As for other memories: Among the few childhood items that Mom had left for me were 55 slides, dating back from my birth in 1964. I took them to our downtown camera store and had them scanned and transferred onto a memory stick. I picked them up Saturday afternoon and then spent a bit of time editing as necessary, for size and colour. I'll refrain from posting any blurry pics of me as a baby, bare backside, lying on a couch. LOL. (There were two of those!) These three below were taken when I was about five-ish, at Haldimand Beach in Gaspé, so probably 1969, give or take a year. Mom would have been in her la...

One Word Wednesday

Image
We all know at least one! BTW, my dad had an angiogram and one stent on Monday. The one blocked artery was 90% blocked, so it's good it was caught in time. No word as of Tuesday afternoon as to when they'll let him go home, though. He sounded good, his usual self, when I chatted briefly with him. Thanks for your good thoughts for him. ♥ Comments are off.

I can hardly believe we're at the end of August already. I'm finishing off the month with a few more pics from August 2008. Below: Up close and personal with Nicki. Below: Derry was stalking a damselfly (think that's what it was). He caught a lot of them, he was good at it! Below: Nicki thinking the grass is green on the other side, as always! Below: Derry was full of beans, I have a half dozen pics of him zooming around. I think I had tossed out a furry toy mouse and he was having a great time with it. Below: The boys taking a break. They killed whatever I had planted there, what with lying on it all the time.  Below: A bonus snapshot of Annie feeling silly. I don't remember if there was catnip involved. Have a terrific day, everyone, and thanks for stopping by.

Catching up on a few things

Image
This will be a mish-mash; all snapshots are from a waterfront walk last Sunday. Let's see...I had a nice catch-up dinner with my "old" work gang a week and a half ago: the two who retired last year, plus the remaining co-worker who has been there almost as long as I have. (There's less than two months between the time I started and the time she started, so we're the old guard, so to speak.). We call ourselves the "Fab Four" and even when we're all retired, we'll still be calling ourselves that. I couldn't have had a better group of co-workers. I've been having lots of "firsts" this year (and of course not always in good ways), but more recently I've started having acupuncture, and now this coming week I'll be going for osteopathy for an ongoing ear/jaw issue that my family doctor clinic can't help with. I had chiropractic adjustments years ago, after a car accident, but this will be the first time I've had osteo...
