The back-end of March

Image
I'm happy to see the end of March and hope we're leaving the snow behind now.  It's the usual daily/weekly stuff here, so I'll wind up the month with a few cell pics. Both Jake (below) and George (fifth pic) have been back for treats, and George is regularly making a pest of himself. (Such a mooch.)  We've had some signs of Spring now too, crocuses coming up along with the snowdrops, and tulips and daffodils are pushing their way up from the ground.  Happy Passover, Easter, and Chocolate Bunny Day, whatever your preference. 😊

Wordless Wednesday: At last!

Image
Yes, I know it's "false Spring," but even so, I was so over-the-moon to see these snowdrops yesterday, on my early AM walk, that I actually almost cried.    P.S. Jake has been back a couple of mornings now, and George has resumed his morning mooching!

Wednesday Words

Image
I stepped out of the house this morning, to pop down to the café at the end of the street, and heard a robin singing his "come hither" Spring song. What a joy! Surprisingly, I have seen and heard robins in the area all winter, but it's been a while since I've heard any singing to attract a mate. I know they'll hang around if they have a food source, but our winter has been so brutal, and this is the first year that I've been aware of any staying put all season in spite of the most snow in almost 25 years.     Last Saturday, in desperation for some colour and cheer, I treated myself to two bunches of tulips, along with my groceries. Brought a bit of much-needed Spring indoors. It was plus 7C that day, absolutely glorious. (Never mind that the following two days were minus double digits again!)   Below: George this morning, after his treats. He always has so much to say! (I've seen Jake only once this winter, and not recently.)     Our snow is slowly melting...

Wordy Wednesday: Look who's back!

Image
George, who has been safely tucked away in his own home, was on my step this morning when I got back with my tea latte. (He's chomping on treats in the snapshot.) Also, there were lots of critter tracks in the swamp on Monday, when I was out for a walk.  Gaahh, I can't wait for Spring! 😆

A new winter Olympic sport?

Image
I think traversing our sidewalks should be a new Winter Olympic sport! They're not all this bad...yet. With the most snow in almost 25 years, though, it's a challenge! I'd be in the running for a gold medal, at least in the senior category! 🏅 😆 Happy Friday, all! It's a long weekend, Monday being Family Day in Ontario. (The holiday has other names in different provinces.) I'm looking forward to more practice in Sidewalk Traversing! Happy Valentine's Day to all, have a lovely weekend!

Friday Funnies

Image
A bit of silliness for the day! The snow angel is mine, from a couple of mornings ago, on the way home from my pre-work walk. I was overcome by the desire to do something child-like and joyful, for sheer delight. So I learned that I can still get down to make a snow angel (jacket hood up!), but getting back up in deep snow is more like a huge fish flopping around on a wharf. 🤣  Take care, all, and stay warm if you're in this deep freeze!

One Word Wednesday: Gaaahhhhh!!!!!

My driveway snowbank Parking lot down behind my unit That's the back of my unit behind the alpine mountain.   "Path" into the grocery store (sidewalk not yet plowed).     Please MAKE IT STOP !

Sunday Selfie: Macadamia

Five year old Macadamia earlier this morning, outside my favourite downtown café. Isn't she gorgeous?! Very friendly too. 😍 Stay safe and as sane as possible, everyone. ❤️🙏

Friday...Funnies?

Image
I can't write anything "funny" at the moment. I don't even actively watch the news anymore, yet this week I have felt sick with fear and anxiety. The song, "Eve of Destruction" seems applicable, and I believe that anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves. The world will never again be as many of us have known it all our lives. I pray I'm being overly pessimistic, but.... Anyway.  I went back to work on Wednesday, so it's a short week to ease into the routine, after 18 days off.  I didn't do much walking or picture-taking, the weather was mostly too bad or cold, and the sidewalks too treacherous with ice. However, a few cell snapshots are below, with a couple of "funnies" too. Take care, everyone. ❤️🙏 Below: A bitterly cold morning down at the waterfront, with ice fog over the lake.

Wishing everyone the happiest New Year!

Happy New Year! Above all else, my wish for you is good health in body, mind, and spirit. May every blessing flow to you from that, and may compassion, kindness, and tolerance to All Beings be yours to both give and receive in 2026. Peace.

Merry Christmas!

Wishing everyone Joy and Light this Christmas and always. (All images courtesy of Pinterest.)  Thank you for your friendship and support through many ups and downs over the years, and especially for sticking with my blog even though I no longer have any fur babies. May you be blessed with good health first and foremost, may you be well in body, mind, and spirit. ❤️ Peace.  Comments are off.

A "mummy hug"

Image
My mom, Judy, would have been 85 today (December 19, 1940 - March 15, 2023).   Mom in 2017, I think. The ubiquitous cigarette and large glass of white wine!   When she'd had a bad day, she'd call me (she lived in Halifax) and say she needed a "Kimmy hug." She'd do the same with her friends and step-daughter as well, call and say she needed a [insert name] hug.   I have often wished for a "mummy hug" since she passed, even if only via phone, especially on more challenging/frustrating days.   An old film pic, scanned, probably from the late '80s or early '90s.   Last night I dreamed she and I were heading into the old Sears store that used to be in what was then the West End Shopping Centre in Halifax, when I lived and worked there. I was following behind (this is the dream, of course) and in typical Judy fashion, she was making a beeline for whatever she wanted. Mom never liked to putter around, she was always zip, zip, zip, get 'er done.   Wh...
