Musings on a Small Life

Well, my 2011 32-inch Sony Bravia TV bit the dust today. 😒     I didn't realize it was that old until I googled the model number to see what might be wrong. (I'd already unplugged and rebooted everything, in case the problem was at my cable company's end. And yes, I have my internet and TV via our cable company, though the WiFi router is my own, because their router was crappy.)   Soooo...I've just ordered a 43-inch open-box 2025 Sony Bravia from Best Buy Canada, with delivery in a couple of days. A totally unexpected and definitely unwanted expense. I know most people have gigantic TVs today, but my space is small and I don't need one wall taken up entirely by a television. As it is, I'm sure the new one will seem quite large in comparison. At least it will be a "smart" TV, so I'll be able to stream my BritBox and PBS programs on something larger than my phone. If I can figure out how to set things up....😬     Aside from that, I'm hanging in...

Thanks to you all for your comments on my last post. It did help just to "vent," to get things out there. It doesn't change how I feel about work--I think many of us of a certain age, especially women, are just tired . On so many levels and about so many things. But I know we all have our own challenges, some more dire than others, and my stuff is small potatoes. Not unimportant to me, but not important in the grand scheme of things. Best to just keep breathing, practice kindness and compassion to All Beings...including our Selves...and give ourselves Grace when we need it.     Anyway...I took last Friday off (it was my birthday and I refuse to work on that day) and had a lovely day with yummy food and great shopping, plus lots of texting/video chatting/phone chatting. If it had been a nice day (it was chilly and rainy) I'd have taken a day trip or at least gone somewhere with my camera, but plan B suited me just fine.     Muck boots for the rain! Yeah, I know this is small potatoes given the current world situation, but could we at least have some sunshine and warmth while the world is imploding? And yeah, I'm just crankypants about it, but there you go.   This morning, on my way to my chiropractic appointment. Seriously?! I'm happy to see the end of March and hope we're leaving the snow behind now.  It's the usual daily/weekly stuff here, so I'll wind up the month with a few cell pics. Both Jake (below) and George (fifth pic) have been back for treats, and George is regularly making a pest of himself. (Such a mooch.)  We've had some signs of Spring now too, crocuses coming up along with the snowdrops, and tulips and daffodils are pushing their way up from the ground.  Happy Passover, Easter, and Chocolate Bunny Day, whatever your preference. 😊

Yes, I know it's "false Spring," but even so, I was so over-the-moon to see these snowdrops yesterday, on my early AM walk, that I actually almost cried.    P.S. Jake has been back a couple of mornings now, and George has resumed his morning mooching!

I stepped out of the house this morning, to pop down to the café at the end of the street, and heard a robin singing his "come hither" Spring song. What a joy! Surprisingly, I have seen and heard robins in the area all winter, but it's been a while since I've heard any singing to attract a mate. I know they'll hang around if they have a food source, but our winter has been so brutal, and this is the first year that I've been aware of any staying put all season in spite of the most snow in almost 25 years.     Last Saturday, in desperation for some colour and cheer, I treated myself to two bunches of tulips, along with my groceries. Brought a bit of much-needed Spring indoors. It was plus 7C that day, absolutely glorious. (Never mind that the following two days were minus double digits again!)   Below: George this morning, after his treats. He always has so much to say! (I've seen Jake only once this winter, and not recently.)     Our snow is slowly melting...

George, who has been safely tucked away in his own home, was on my step this morning when I got back with my tea latte. (He's chomping on treats in the snapshot.) Also, there were lots of critter tracks in the swamp on Monday, when I was out for a walk.  Gaahh, I can't wait for Spring! 😆 

I think traversing our sidewalks should be a new Winter Olympic sport! They're not all this bad...yet. With the most snow in almost 25 years, though, it's a challenge! I'd be in the running for a gold medal, at least in the senior category! 🏅 😆 Happy Friday, all! It's a long weekend, Monday being Family Day in Ontario. A bit of silliness for the day! The snow angel is mine, from a couple of mornings ago, on the way home from my pre-work walk. I was overcome by the desire to do something child-like and joyful, for sheer delight. So I learned that I can still get down to make a snow angel (jacket hood up!), but getting back up in deep snow is more like a huge fish flopping around on a wharf. 🤣  Take care, all, and stay warm if you're in this deep freeze!
