Monday Mancat Memories: Snoozing on a freezing January day

Image
From January 2008. The best thing to do when it's bitterly cold out is snuggle up and snooze the afternoon away! (If you're seeing the blog for the first time, angel Nicki is the brown tabby, angel Derry the grey one.) I miss my boys, Derry most especially, since my relationship with Nicki was...complicated. I always told Derry that I would never have another cat as sweet as he was. 💖

Wordy Wednesday: First Kitty Love

Image
Ann at Zoolatry had proposed that posts on Wednesdays in February reflect love, friendship, kindness, and caring. Long-time readers no doubt will have seen these old pics of angel Chumley, my first adoptee and my Mentor. He did not get the best of me, as it was a very difficult time in my life and I was unknowingly clinically depressed. Everything I have done for my subsequent cat companions has been with him in mind, and I hope my karmic debt has be been paid now.  Chumley was ever-forgiving, though, ever-loving, and was happiest in my arms. These pics are from September 28, 2006 (he passed unexpectedly on January 24, 2007). He was such a handsome boy, the most photogenic of my four cats. It's been many years without him, but oh, the love never dies 💖

Monday Mancat Memories: First Outdoor Tussle

Image
From December 27, 2007, the boys' first outdoor tussle. The pics aren't great, but you get the idea. They were young and full of beans! There were 24 mostly blurry pics in this sequence, as the boys broke apart a couple of times before resuming the tussling.  They certainly kept me laughing...most of the time! Sometimes it would get out of hand and I'd have to step in, as Nicki could become very aggressive and nasty, but fortunately that wasn't too often. Most of the time it was all in fun! 💖

The "Mountains" We Climb

Image
I couldn't resist posting this. We have several snow "mountains" in the complex, from the plow. Click to enlarge to see it better. I won't be climbing any of them, but they're great for the kids (on the greenbelt side, of course). ******** I will not write of the emotional mountains we have to climb, because everyone reading this blog knows how challenging the process of grief is, especially when your soulmates have four legs, not two. There are other things going on in my personal life at this time that are adding to the challenges. If I don't comment as much, or even at all sometimes, please don't take it personally. I truly appreciate everyone who reads and/or comments my mundane posts, and I'll visit when I'm able to. ♥ But. One step at a time, yes? That's how we keep moving forward. ******** I am SO ready for winter be over, for SO many reasons. But it's not letting up anytime soon, and I'm dreaming of April and May, and sunshine a...

Monday Mancat Memories: Derry's first time in the garden

Image
These were snapped on Boxing Day (Dec 26) 2007, five days after Derry came home. It was the first time I let him out into the enclosed back space. It was a grand adventure for a young cat! I don't remember what he was looking at here (below), possibly Nicki or Annie. It's hard to believe he was ever that lean. :-D Nicki came over to see what Derry found so fascinating (dead stalks). Below, Derry looks like he was talking up a storm to Nicki, but he actually had been chewing on one of those dead stalks. I have so many picture of the boys that my next post will still be from December 2007, their first outdoor tussle the next day, on the 27th. 💕

Mancat Monday Memories

Image
First, I'd like to express my gratitude to Ingrid at Meezer's Mews & Terrieristical Woofs for this beautiful memorial graphic: It was such a surprise and touched my heart deeply. Thank you. ♥ ******** As for Monday Mancat Memories, I thought I'd try posting memories chronologically, by month. This one is from Derry's Gotcha Day, December 21, 2007. About 20 - 30 minutes after Derry came home, he and Nicki started tussling. Derry was six months old then, and Nicki was fourteen months old. They never stopped their tussling, as long-time followers (of Fuzzy Tales) know full well. They certainly were entertaining! It always felt to me that when Nicki passed, he took all the energy in the house with him. I can only imagine their antics now.  :-) Below, still Derry's Gotcha Day: Derry was playing with a toy, obviously, and Nicki was hiding out in a cat "cave", waiting to pounce. Silly, precious boys. 💖💖

I'm not feeling particularly lighthearted or chipper, but it's been such a lousy week that I wanted to post a few Pinterest funnies to lighten my mood for a few moments, and maybe yours too. I do this one, below, too often! Take care and keep well. I have a "Monday Mancat Memories" post scheduled for the 23rd, featuring the boys of course. I hope it will help me remember all the good years, not the sad and difficult times. Peace.
