Friday Funnies

Image
Belated happy December! I can hardly believe we're almost at the end of another year. I feel like I just blink and twelve months are gone. (I know that I say and write this EVERY year!) As usual, here are a few funnies that popped up recently in my Pinterest feed. Those of you who have FB accounts might have seen them there, but I had not. Below: For the Scrabble lovers. Note Santa's word.  :-) I'll leave you with Mr. Smoochy Derry Bear. I'm taking him back next week to have another Freestyle Libre sensor applied, just to see how his glucose is doing. It will have been three weeks without tracking, so I wanted to do it before the holidays. Take care!

Friday Funnies

A smile for this Friday (or any day), courtesy of my Pinterest feed (as always.) Below, a blurry, weird-looking snapshot from last weekend of Derry in the microwave box.  :-P Have a great day and weekend, everyone!

We dodged the worst of it

Image
We definitely dodged the winter "bullet" in our region, with 8 cm on Friday and probably a few more on Saturday, a dusting early on Sunday (or that could have been blowing snow). Nothing like other parts of Ontario and oh my gosh, upper New York State. I feel for them! Snapshots below from a walk on Friday. Snow makes everything look so magical, but the reality of getting around, especially on foot, is vastly different. Our city must be the worst in the country for sidewalk clearing (lack of), even at bus stops, and I don't think they ever have sanded or salted said sidewalks, even when/if they get plowed. I'm sure long-time followers of this blog are tired of my annual complaint! Anyway, we're supposed to have a warm-up this week, so most of the snow should disappear--I hope. It's too early for it to come and stay. Some kitty has ventured outside into the (enclosed) back garden a few times, but mostly he prefers to be inside and warm. BTW, I had made a vet te...

Derry: Brave or Foolish?

Image
Yesterday morning during our snow. I can't decide if he was brave or foolish! I doubt he'll be so adventurous tomorrow and Saturday, as we're bracing for a significant lake-effect snowstorm. I'm flexing my work time today (started at 5 AM, the benefit/down side of working from home), so will take an extended lunch break and go for groceries, enough to tide me over for several days. I doubt I'll be out again until Sunday or Monday! Take care, everyone, and if you're in an area of impending inclement weather, stay safe and cosy.

Tuesday Tales

Image
I had intended to write a "Monday Mish-Mash," but didn't get to it yesterday, so "Tuesday Tales" it is.  Derry's glucose numbers have, so far , remained in the low/normal range. His third sensor will be finished on Thursday at noon, but I'm going to wait a week or so before taking him back to have the old one removed and (possibly) a new one put on. The Orijen Fit and Trim dry, which is low carb (16% - 17%) has ingredients that cause his SIBO/IBD to flare-up (like pea fibre, etc.), so I'm trying to increase the Hill's z/d dry and decrease the Orijen. He seems fine with the canned that he eats (Weruva, a bit of Orijen). He really doesn't like Hill's, though, so I sprinkle a bit of FortiFlora on it to make it a bit more palatable. It's a balancing act, especially as he's so picky (read spoiled)! Evening sky a few nights ago . Our "summer in November" came to an abrupt halt; we had wet snow on Sunday. Given that the Weather...

Friday Funnies

Some Pinterest "funnies" to celebrate the end of the work week: Me, on Sunday after the time change . Life with cats .... It's the status quo at my end, nothing to report. Derry had his second sensor removed yesterday and a new one put on. So far his numbers remain within the normal range, knock on wood. If that continues through the next thirteen days, I'll likely wait a few weeks before taking him back, just to give him a break from the frequent trips to the vet clinic. Morning sky on October 31st . Cuddles on Friday October 28th, after I got home from the work "sprint." We both needed that snuggle time! (And one of us needed wine too.) As for non-cat things, now that we're into November and well past our Thanksgiving (October), I'm mentally gearing up to do some Christmas decorating. I love holiday decorations and I seem to start earlier every year. I saw a cute idea on Pinterest, using dollar store ornaments, and decided to try it in my own bat...

Wordless Wednesday: Please send sugar-free wine

Because, work "sprints". Comments are off.

Mancat Monday: An update on Derry's test result

Image
Below is how I usually feel on Mondays, especially this week with a particular work "thing" on both Wednesday and Friday. (I had fantasies of quitting/retiring before we had to do this unnecessary and unwanted  team thing again, but alas, it's not to be.) On a good note, I got Derry's fructosamine results back from the vet today: The result was 382, down from 720 in September, which is terrific. The reference range, as listed above, is 143 - 373, but I also see at the end that under 405 is "good regulation." So fingers and paws are crossed that this continues.  🤞🙏 Derry wasn't cranky, below, he was making lovey eyes at me and wanting cuddles. Isn't this the truth, below?! Every time I clean! I should be so lucky to get five minutes out of it. Ha! Take care, all. Yesterday evening's wispy clouds.
