Just in time for Easter

Image
I spied these daffodils downtown this morning, just in time for Easter. Below, the middle set of doors to St Mary's Cathedral, downtown. On either side were the leftover dead greenery displays (in tall planters) from Christmas. Completely brown. I didn't want to include those. Lol. Maybe they wanted the juxtaposition of the end and the beginning...or maybe it's an ongoing internal political feud. Either is possible! Happy Easter to all, or happy Chocolate Bunny Day if you prefer! 🐰🐣

Mancat Monday: Nice to meet you, Jasper!

Image
I met Jasper at Lake Ontario Park yesterday, a gloriously sunny morning for a change. He's a two-year old barn "adoptee," and his humans trained him to harness when he was a kitten. Don't be fooled by his intense expression; he was the sweetest boy, came trotting right over to say hi as soon as I stopped. I couldn't get a good pic of him because he really wouldn't hold still long enough, between rubbing against my legs and being eager to explore. He was totally chill about all the dogs being walked (the sunshine brought everyone out!) Seeing him totally made my day!

Carpet of Yellow

Image
It was gloriously sunny yesterday, albeit cool, and I took a lunchtime walk in search of crocuses. I didn't see as many as I'd hoped, but one house had a carpet of yellow crocuses on their front lawn. They do this annually, always yellow, and always a joy to see! I'm glad I went yesterday, because today we have snow flurries and bitterly cold temps. Those poor crocuses will be toast! Have a great day and week!

With apologies if I've posted these before. Have a great day and weekend!

It's been a fun weekend!

Image
We've had freezing rain all weekend. There were/are lots of power outages around the city, but we have been lucky in the immediate neighbourhood and kept power. I went out for a walk a bit earlier, as I could see that the road was clear. I meant to just walk around the complex, but ended up doing an hour and a half around the larger neighbourhood. It didn't feel like it was that long, though! There are lots of small tree limbs down, but nothing major.  It's pretty to look at, but....  We're supposed to have a warm up tomorrow, with lots of rain, so hopefully that takes care of the ice. It's hard to believe that parts of southwestern Ontario had 20C weather, while we got this!

If you're in the swath of freezing rain tonight and through the weekend, please stay home and stay safe. If you're somewhere warm and sunny, for the love of heaven, send us real Spring, not the false, terrible tease of Spring we had a week or two ago!

Three more needles and it's a wrap

Image
I had another dental appointment this morning. It took three needles to freeze me, but the permanent crown is on, and it had darn well better be permanent .   George after some treats last week. My bite feels a teensy bit off, but at this stage I really don't care. (He did fiddle/adjust the crown, but didn't want to shave too much off.) As long as the thing stays on and I can chew, I'm good.   I laughed, though, when he asked me (before he cemented it on) if I wanted to look at it first. What's to see? It's a gold crown on a far back molar, who cares what it looks like. LOL. Function over fashion! (Note: I would have cared if it had been a visible tooth, though! I'm not completely without vanity, not by a long shot. If the tooth were visible I would have had porcelain.)   Below, two cuties from last week (I think), when it was actually sunny and warm. We currently seem to be back to winter.    I dropped an obscene amount of money this weekend on two pairs of 7D...

At long last: Signs of Spring

Image
Snowdrops from my morning walk today. It seemed fitting to see my first real signs of Spring (other than the birds!) on the second anniversary of Mom's passing. Renewal and hope. 💖

Wordless Wednesday: Have enough to eat there?

Unbelievable. (Dental part whatever)

I just got home from the appointment for my permanent crown.   Well, he fiddled and fiddled, trimmed it and fiddled and fiddled some more, but was not happy with the fit.    I've had three needles, he had to cauterize my gum in a couple of spots to redo the lower impressions (two kinds), and then he put the temporary crown back on.   Unbelievable.   I mean, I'm glad he's being so precise, but this is my fourth crown and the first time I've such problems. I don't know why.    I'm going to pour myself a glass of wine right now, and I don't care if I have to drink it through a straw. 😖🍷

We had one glorious day of spring this week, plus 3 Celsius and sunshine. Almost shorts weather. 😁 We're back to winter now! Anyway, happy Friday, have a terrific day and weekend.

This!!!!!  For so many reasons right now.  Have a good weekend, all.  P.S. The redo of the dental impressions went without a hitch, I think. The dentist did them this time.

The snow onslaught continues (and dental update)

Image
Gahhh, do we ever have snow! More than I've seen in a few years, I think! And it's still snowing and blowing out, has been since yesterday afternoon. I've shovelled my driveway three times now, once yesterday and twice today. I give up. It's all blown back in and I'll "tunnel" out tomorrow. Good thing Monday is the Family Day holiday, with almost everything closed anyway. As for the back space, I'm not even going to attempt to clear a path to the gate.  BTW, my dental saga continues. The clinic called late Friday afternoon; apparently the impressions that the dental assistant took cannot be used by the lab making the crown. (This is the same assistant who screwed up the first temporary crown.) So I have an 8 AM appointment on Tuesday to have the impressions redone. At a guess, that cement-like stuff will pull off the crown when they remove the tray from my mouth, unless they have a trick for that. I'll find out. I wasn't annoyed with the first ...

Happy Valentine's Day!

The dental gods are laughing....

Well, that was fun.   Two needles to freeze, as expected. The dentist (new to me) was good, very patient. Took over two hours all told. He did the prep work for the temporary crown, then left the assistant to do the actual temp crown.   After I left the clinic, I had time before my bus so popped into the grocery store. I was at the cash, waiting in line, when I felt something in my mouth, spit it into my hand. Ha! It was the temporary crown... very temporary at less than 15 minutes.    I was trying to hang onto it, but dropped it and then couldn't find it, in spite of getting down to look. Alas the floor is very similar in colour to that of normal teeth. Some janitor is going to find that and wonder....   It took a minute for me to realize that the tooth is singing!   Fortunately, the clinic is very close to the grocery store, so back I went, where I waited for another temporary crown to be put on. This time the dentist did it. Fingers crossed it stays on...

It's pretty, but...

Image
It's very pretty, yes, but really? More winter?! (And a lot more on the way this week, if the forecast holds.)       I snapped those pics with the phone yesterday morning, when I was heading out for breakfast. We'd had a few more inches of light, fluffy snow overnight Saturday. Very pretty, easy to shovel. Still...I could do without this return to a "real" winter!   Below is another Molly. I met her on Saturday afternoon. She got three doggie treats out of me. :-)     She was another one that really needs to go to pup school, to learn how to behave around strangers. As much as I love dogs, I really don't appreciate them jumping all over me and being grabby with the treats.   Have a good week, everyone. Hopefully no one else has dental work this week! I have an appointment first thing Wednesday morning for a crown (the temporary one, the permanent one will be in two weeks). It's the last bottom molar; the other three already have crowns. Yay me! 😨

Wednesday Winter Wonderland

Image
We had rain on Monday before it turned to snow overnight. And while I'm heartily sick and tired of winter, I admit it was rather magical looking yesterday! (Click to enlarge. Most were quick snaps with the phone.)     Only about 8 or so more weeks of winter to go....
